Advent Calendar Re-Make

A couple of days before Thanks Giving, I a got a phone call from a lady, asking me if I could recreate an Advent Calendar from her childhood. Actually, she wanted me to make 4 of them... before December 1. I told her I would do the best I could.

She sent me this picture (which is a full sized photo copy of the one she wanted me to copy):
It is plain, but cute. It is just a felt Christmas Tree glued on to burlap, with four rows of pockets below the tree. She told me that she wanted me to JAZZ it up a bit. So here is what we decided to do:
1. Instead of burlap, I put it on a quilted Red fabric. The reverse side of the red was a darling Plaid, which we used for the pockets.
2. I trimmed it with a Golden Bias.
3. The gal I did this for had an idea of adding a dangling star trim to the bottom. I think it turned out really well.
4. In addition to using an iron adhesive, I blanket stitched the felt tree on to the background.I think that it turned out really cute. Here is a look at picture of the entire Calendar.*I know that there are no Numbers on the Pockets. She wanted to add those herself.
**She ended up only needed 2 Calendars before the 1st. So that is all I made... so far.
